About

Miguel Martinez

I was born and raised in Reno. My early life was in a mobile home park on Kietzke Lane. My family was able to live the American Dream of building a better life through hard work and education. Our success also comes from being a part of a community that supported us, and is my model for service. My wife and our daughters are proud to call this our home.

I’m a product of our local schools. I am a graduate of North Valleys High School, Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), and the University of Nevada, Reno. I went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Higher Education from Virginia Tech. I returned to my home to work at TMCC, improving access for students seeking a college education. I wanted to help other students on the same positive path that TMCC had set me on when I began the higher education journey that changed my life for the better.

My wife, Nayesdi, our two daughters and I call Donner Springs home. When I’m not working, you can find me spending time with them.

We’re big fans of going to Aces games. I like to golf, and have been enjoying teaching my girls how to play and taking them to the driving range. We spend a lot of time at city parks, walking trails, and bike paths as I teach them how to ride. Otherwise, you can find us at community events like Dia de los Muertos, food truck Fridays (with the whole extended family), sledding around the hillside, swimming in the river, or at a family dinner after church on Sunday.

We love living here, and all the opportunities and possibilities this wonderful community provides.
